We also develop and provide polymerization catalysts for use in these processes, and continuously develop new products to meet the latest market requirements.

    For Lummus Novolen Technology GmbH in Mannheim/ Germany we are looking for a Chemical Engineer (m/f/d) as Patent Agent (Part-Time) to join our Technology team at the earliest date possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in chemistry or chemical engineering is strongly preferred
  • 3 - 6 years’ experience managing the preparation and prosecution of patent applications and the conduction of patentability and freedom-to-operate searches, either in a private organization, technology transfer office or academia
  • Ability to develop strategic plans necessary to provide a strong IP position for the Company’s products and clearly articulate those plans to senior management
  • Strong advocacy skills in connection with patent prosecution
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and effectively manage priorities so as to meet tight deadlines
  • Independent and self-motivated, with a strong sense of urgency and ability to drive a project to completion
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – must be able to communicate clearly both within the organization and externally to drive projects forward
  • Highly effective analytical and problem solving skills, including excellent attention to detail
  • Collaborative personality with strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken German and English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word

Responsibilities:

  • Survey the Chinese patent filings and according threats for our technology
  • Survey Chinese technical publications with regards to polymer in general and Novolen in special
  • Organize regular meetings with Lummus China team
  • Generate strategies for filing protective patents and utility models to secure the Novolen technology
  • Preparing protective patents based on existing technology for China
  • Coordinate counter measures against Chinese IP threats (illicit filings) together with Lummus IP counsels
  • Support technology to analyze Chinese polyolefin technologies
