Job description:Chemical-technical assistant (m/f/d)
Background
The staff position in the Microbial Ecology working group of the SSSE section on Helgoland takes on core tasks in the maintenance of the section and is also responsible, among other things, for the implementation of essential tasks within the framework of the research program.
Tasks
- Performing analyses of microplastics in various matrices. The analyses include FITR & Raman spectroscopy/microscopy and other methods
- Preparation of samples as well as processing and measurement of gas samples
- Participation in research cruises and expeditions with corresponding objectives
- Support of student (internships and workshops)
- Centralized services e.g. glass storage management, chemical ordering
Requirements
- Completed training as a CTA, chemical laboratory technician or equivalent qualification (e.g. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field)
- Practical experience in the field of analytics
- Good written and spoken German and English skills
- Good knowledge of common standard software and elementary statistics is an advantage
