Description:
The Chemical Operator will be responsible for the reliable, safe and efficient treatment of incoming industrial waters for discharge and disposal. This individual will be responsible for the characterization and designation of various incoming waste streams. The candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and work effectively within a team environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Environmental or Chemical Engineering Technician or Technologist of related Diploma
- Competent computer skills (MS Windows and Office)
- Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment.
- Must be safety conscious and detail oriented.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision.
- Willing to work overtime, and continental shift work.
- Valid G License.
- Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), Reg. 347 and Ontario Health and Safety Act is an Asset.
- Previous hazardous and non-hazardous waste management experience is an asset.
- Previous propane forklift experience/certification is an asset.
- Must be comfortable working in a mostly outdoor environment.
- Must be willing and able to achieve proper respirator PPE fit and
- Ability to lift upwards of 50 lbs.
- Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required drug testing.

Responsibilities:
- Sample containerized waste, vacuum trucks and tankers.
- Perform compatibility tests on containerized wastes in preparation for bulking over products.
- Process containerized waste according to compatibility test results and lab instruction.
- Perform minor maintenance, including lubrication, operating adjustments, cleaning & painting of equipment.
- Perform data entry manipulation
- Assist with development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Run instrumentation, and perform tests for compatibility
