About the role
The Chemist will lend his or her expertise to the team and ensure that hazardous wastes and waste chemicals are handled, stored, treated, mixed, blended, bulked, and disposed of in a safe and environmentally compliant manner. The Chemist will perform, or cause to be performed, all tests as prescribed by standard procedures and operational permits. The Chemist will maintain all necessary records to support safe and complaint operations. The Chemist will suggest and direct the most appropriate forms and methods of chemical and physical treatment based on the analysis of waste. The Chemist may assist in the treatment of wastes.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, clean, organize and care for the laboratory, laboratory equipment and logs, in accordance with operations manuals, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Safely and efficiently conducts analyses and makes evaluative conclusions using laboratory best practices and enter results in computer tracking system.
  • Assists with running pilot studies or experimental treatment methods and drawing conclusions
  • Assist in classification, treatment, and process determination
  • Record preparation and retention
  • mplement and manage company policies and procedures as they pertain to safety, lab analysis, water treatment and give input on other technical issues in all areas of the business.
  • Record, monitor and inventory all laboratory supplies, critical spare parts, chemical shelf-life control, and items essential to the proper and safe operation of the laboratory.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with other departments, ensuring clear and consistent communication
  • Document and track results to identify and make improvements and adjustments to treatment as needed
  • Perform other duties as required
