We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Chief Architect – Asia Pacific.

LOCAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Budget Control: This role will be responsible for advising on the ASP technology costs
  • Commercial Influence: This role will have influence over the total ASP technology budget
  • Entity/Functional Management - This job will have line management responsibility of ASP Principal IT and/or Lead IT Architects
  • Relationships – CIO for WPB / Wholesale and MSS IT; Strategy and Architecture; Global Functions COOs; IT & Excos; Engineering leads; Other DBS/SFR Function Heads; Key partnerships with Strategic Vendors
  • Strategic importance - High: Leads and owns the development and implementation of global architecture strategy and standards
  • Regulatory & Risk – D – Manages risks identified through design processes and governance mechanisms. communicates changes in Architecture policy & governance effectively
    Requirements

CERTIFICATIONS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Business: Extensive experience in IT preferably in the financial services industry. Candidates will have a good understanding of Financial Services and Architecture discipline within it. Able to translate business needs into appropriate Technology solutions.
  • Technical: Have a system engineering background and the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement. Provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills – desire to solve complex problems at scale. Provide expert knowledge & expertise in design & engineering spanning: Public and Private Cloud, DevOps, Agile, Application Modernisation eg API design/microservices and Core Banking systems.
  • Experience in global organizations in an executive leadership position as Head of Architecture / Head of IT / CIO / CTO.
  • Experienced in architecting and leading large technology scale change (USD $50 Million and team size of 100 ).
  • Track record of business architecture implementation and experience of process redesign and/or process simplification in support of efficiency and transformation objectives.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences including boards/senior executive management.
  • Experience working in across breadth of architecture covering Business, Application, Data, Technology architecture domains across a complex domain.

The job holder will have versatility of experience in defining business and technology architecture & strategies across multiple technical and business domains and be recognised as a visionary and industry thought-leader.

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

HSBC operates across three Global Businesses (GBs): Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB); Wholesale; and Markets & Security Services (MSS) spanning across Asia, Europe, Middle East and Americas.
These three GBs and Regions are supported by Digital Business Services (DBS), whose remit includes: running customer operations; delivering innovative digital solutions for customers and colleagues; management of risk and controls; bank-wide change; and central services such as procurement and real estate management.
The DBS teams play a vital role in driving great experiences for customers and colleagues, and enabling the bank’s strategy through Technology.

The Technology Architecture function sits within Technology and its mission is to ‘Guide the HSBC Group to Build the Right Technology in the Right Way’, by:

  • Ensuring successful business outcomes by enabling by great business, data and technology architecture
  • Driving modern technology approaches and an open systems mentality via architecture
  • Delivering an optimised technology estate that is fit for the future through architecture enablement

The Chief Architect, Asia Pacific (ASP) leads the regional architecture practice / function and shapes the technology strategy of the ASP region in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Regional: COO, CIO, Business and Technology stakeholders.

The job holder will have versatility of experience in defining business and technology architecture & strategies across multiple technical and business domains and be recognised as a visionary and industry thought-leader.
