Responsibilities:

You will be a key player within the DAF office in charge of building up, implementing, and updating the organization and management of the archives of the University of Luxembourg. As a young University, our institution is looking to further improve our ability to assess, preserve, manage, maintain, and enhance our archives. You will work with the top management, the UL services, the faculties, and interdisciplinary centers, as well as all archive producers, to define, develop and deploy archiving strategies, and ensure a robust framework to UL archiving.

You will bring specific expertise for:

  • Defining project objectives for UL archiving, formulate project’s plans, provide key insight, strategic advices, and following up
  • Leading a small Archiving team at UL, which is currently being established, starting with your involvement
  • Assessing (both paper and digital) archiving needs and management in collaboration with archive producers
  • Formulating, developing and updating classification plans (“tableaux de tri”) in cooperation with archive producers
  • Defining the scope of the collection of permanent historical archives
  • Working alongside all UL archive producers, mobilizing and federating them, to ensure strategy is translated into high-quality archiving procedures and to manage and mitigate risks and resources
  • Coordinating the drafting and reviews of key processes and procedures and ensuring implementation and updates of major policies, procedures, tools, and relevant guidelines and templates
  • Developing targeted projects favoring the preservation and promotion of some precise archival collections; e.g. audiovisual, oral histories
  • Advising on digitization and drafting a proposal for an electronic document management
  • Developing initiatives favoring the enhancement of archival collections, particularly in the context of user support, historical and heritage initiatives, and publications
  • Maintaining strong relationships with external partners and relevant organizations in the field of archiving
  • Ensuring regular reporting
