KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Monitor and manage the Tribe’s overall credit risk - include overseeing collections and loan procedures, and processing mitigation of the risks surrounding a loan portfolio.
  • Oversee and provide active management of the Bank’s credit analysis function and develop appropriate portfolio management MIS reports.
  • Lead and manage tribe risk team and interfaces to group risk and bank risk team.
  • Work with the board, tribe CEO and wider management to ensure that the Risk Management Framework is consistent with the tribes objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as strategic business partner to achieve budgetary targets, and evaluating new processes, products, technology and business strategy on the risk profile of the tribe.
  • Set strategy of the tribe’s credit risk & developing credit & underwriting policies including risk measurement tools including risk assessments, thresholds for key risk indicators, stress testing, and loss database implementation. Lead towards automation process of credit decisioning.
  • Lead key risk initiatives & projects to improve the quality of our underwriting, as well as being a driving force in strengthening the tribes awareness on key risk areas and topical issues.
  • Develop and enhance a risk reporting framework which meets the requirements of various external and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and implement performing debt collection procedures, review portfolio DPD’s and work together with debt collection partners to improve NPLs status and portfolio quality.
  • Ongoing review of risk governance within the organization and establishing a process to support the monitoring and reporting of tribe risk profile in relation to tribe’s risk management framework and risk limits.
  • Drive recruitment of staff members to the team and in the overall development of the credit risk department in line with business needs.
  • Assist in determining the adequacy of the allowance for loan and lease losses.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field;
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in credit risk management, specifically with focus on underwriting secured loans within traditional banks or fintech companies;
  • Proved track record in commercial lending/leasing with proficiency across quantitative analysis, structured lending, and asset-based lending;
  • Extensive experience in establishing and developing comprehensive credit, collection, and fraud policies and objectives tailored to effectively manage risk within the company’s acceptable parameters for commercial secured lending;
  • Previous managerial experience, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams, foster a culture of accountability and innovation;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing advanced risk management strategies and scorecard analytics, leveraging quantitative analysis techniques and predictive modeling to optimize risk assessment and decision-making processes;
  • Ability to develop risk management and scorecard analytics;
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements, particularly EBA guidelines and other local regulatory frameworks, with a proven ability to ensure compliance;
  • Expertise in managing the end-to-end loan approval process;
  • Experience working with Data Science and understanding model development;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate; effectively with stakeholders at all levels;
  • In-depth knowledge of credit risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
