Chief Design Engineer, Perception Systems

In this role you will possess the technical ownership of the perception solutions of Ponsse forest machines. This includes for example laser scanners, cameras and radars together with the algorithms and calculation units required. In addition, you are involved in defining overall system architecture and be responsible for integrating the design into the control system of the machines.
You will ensure that project teams understand targets and organize required meetings. Moreover, you manage project schedules, content and budgets. Evaluating the quality of implementation and technical readiness according to set requirements together with other experts is also an essential part of your work. Effective communication with e.g. other departments of Ponsse R&D, supply chain, technology stakeholders and customers is vital in order to succeed in this role.

Required qualifications in this role:

• A bachelors`s or master’s degree in automation, software engineering or a related field
• Strong and proven experience in the engineering roles of relevant disciplines, preferably in the field of non-road mobile machines
• Deep technical knowledge in relevant areas such as laser scanner applications and software engineering
• Qualified applicant is a good combination of technical expertise, management skills, problem-solving abilities and effective communication
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and written in English or Finnish
