WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU BRING?

  • A University Degree in Engineering along with related experience in the public transit sector managing and leading technical staff, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensed in the Province of Ontario.
  • Must have previous experience with commissioning and safety certification of systems on major infrastructure projects.
  • Must have previous experience managing project risk registers, hazard logs, certification plans and certification reports.
  • Must have experience in hazard analysis and RAM analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of business administration, fiscal concepts, human resources policies and legislation/regulations regarding safety, human rights, employment, etc.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director - LRT Systems and Operations, the Chief Engineer - Systems provides engineering management from a systems and operating perspective, specializing in Commissioning, in support of the Metrolinx LRT and subway expansion projects. The Chief Engineer – Systems acts as a technical subject matter expert to ensure that TTC requirements are coordinated and met through all phases of the expansion projects, including planning, design, commissioning, operations and maintenance. This includes developing the TTC commissioning plan, reviewing commissioning related materials, and ensuring commissioning and safety certification of expansion projects are properly documented and adhere to TTC policies and standards. The incumbent interfaces with Metrolinx, Metrolinx contractors, and TTC internal workforce (i.e. other Engineering staff, Operations, Infrastructure and Engineering, IT, Investigative Services, Strategy and Customer Experience, and/or Safety and Environment) to coordinate through all phases of the project. The incumbent promotes a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. Lastly, the incumbent participates in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.
