Description:

Enlightened SoilEnlightened Soil is an innovative mid-stage start-up based in South Carolina at the forefront of sustainable agriculture, producing a soil amending, bio-stimulant concentrate derived from green algae. Their product, EnSoil Algae, is licensed in all 50 states, labeled as organic in the US and Canada, and already well vetted domestically and internationally, with application on both organic and conventional operations. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), based remotely, provides leadership for all aspects of the company’s operations with an emphasis on short- and long-term growth initiatives, strategic market penetration, and continued business development. We’re looking for a transformational leader to take the company into national exposure while directing the cultural change that comes along with progressive growth.
You’ll be working closely with the company’s founder in addition to an existing team of 15 dedicated employees, all working remotely. You will be interacting heavily with customers and distribution leaders. The current product is being sold direct to growers with a short-term goal of heavier expansion into distribution and retail channels. Our ideal candidate brings: A bachelor’s degree or higher in agri-business, agriculture, agronomy, crop and soil sciences, plant pathology or related field.
Business administration or equivalent proven work experience in an ag related leadership advisory role also encouraged to apply. 10+ years of experience in agriculture sales, management, and operational leadership. Strong sales experience, heavy in product commercialization. Background in crop protection and/or nutrient ag product lines with experience in the sale and manufacturing of synthetic or biological products.

You will be based remotely working out of a home office with domestic travel when necessary. What You’ll Do: Oversee the ongoing operations of all divisions in the company, including all employment decisions and business strategy. Work collaboratively with the board of directors and other executives to establish short-term objectives and long-range goals, and related plans and policies.
Present regular reports on the status of the company’s operations to the board of directors and to company staff. Develop and execute a planned approach by creating a sales plan for accounts and contacts to target, activities, and milestones leading to the generation of sales. Identify and capitalize on the crop segments that will allow for the highest impact of market growth. Oversee the organization’s financial structure, ensuring adequate and sound funding for the mission and goals of the company.
Serve as the company’s representative to the board of directors, shareholders, employees, customers, the government, and the public. What You’ll Bring: Demonstrated experience as a successful business leader, preferably in ag biologicals across the conventional agriculture, regenerative agriculture, and/or municipalities industries. Experience with a market leader or high growth agriculture company that has consistently hit ambitious growth targets, ideally with a mix of startup and established company experience. Proven track record of growing ag products or services revenue through direct and channel sales and field/inside sales teams, across direct to grower, ag retail and independent dealerships.
Proven experience and success in high level product scalability. Thorough understanding of management and financial practices in all areas and phases of business operations. Strong operational focus, analytical ability, and good judgment with high ethical standards
