POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for ensuring the stability and success of the Community. The Chief Executive Officer serves as the chief administrator, providing leadership and implementing policies and programs to carry out the work of the organization.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ten years of experience in healthcare management or equivalent required.
  • Five years of experience in a senior management position required.
  • Active Nursing Home Administrator License (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion. Ability to perform duties with consideration for residents’ rights at all times and demonstrate integrity and discretion in the care of residents and in handling their health information. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and motivational skills.
  • Knowledge of management, fiscal, and medical/nursing practices and procedures, laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, interpret, and manage programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and resources necessary to provide quality of care.
  • Working knowledge of, or ability to interpret, Medicare regulations, as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to nursing home, hospice, and home care administration.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of management and operations of nursing facility, hospice, and homecare lines of business.
  • Demonstrates capacity for mature leadership and management in a complex and changing healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrates a professional leadership style that earns the respect and cooperation of others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Position requires the individual to stand, walk, or move about the facility during 75% of the workday. Must be able to reach, bend, grab, push, or pull.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the strategic planning, managing, directing, coordinating, and controlling the overall operations of the community.
  • Provides leadership to ensure attainment of strategic objectives and the delivery of quality health care services.
  • Ensures that the delivery of care is in keeping with the mission and tenants of the Catholic faith ethical and religious directives and Catholic social teaching.
  • Initiates and enforces organization-wide policies and procedures that support the community’s goals, objectives, and programs.
  • Coordinates the development and management to the budget, allocates funds within the budget and ensures the organization operates within the budget.
  • Keeps the governing body fully informed regarding pertinent activities within the organization which includes quality of patient care, management and financial status, survey results, and the adequacy of physical plant, equipment, and personnel by providing regular reports to the governing body.
  • Anticipates trends and opportunities affecting company operations to formulate strategies and creates new approaches in adverse situations.
  • Ensures development of programs promoting a positive image and creates awareness of available services to communities we serve.
  • Ensures adherence to State and Federal laws, regulations and accreditation standards; submits financial records and cost reports to authorized government agencies as required.
  • Acts as a liaison between Santa Marta and the community, building relationships with fellow healthcare organizations, legislators and regulators, referral sources and community leaders.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the daily administration of the organization by implementing policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Drafts and implements performance standards; conducts performance reviews for senior leadership.
