WHAT YOU’LL HAVE DONE BEFORE:

Baseline:

• At least 8 years experience in managing a Fire Station or in Fire Engineering
• NQF 6 - Diploma in Fire Technology or equivalent
• Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA)
• Exceptional Leadership skills
• Deep knowledge of Fire Prevention and Emergency Response
• Experience in fire system design and installation
• Ability to work in a plant/ hazardous (MHI) environment

Advantageous:

• Degree in Fire Technology/ Disaster Management/ Mechanical Engineering
• Certificate in Fire System Design

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Proactively manage and control incidents on the ground
• Implement & maintain mutual aid agreements and provide adequate support when required
• Building capacity and training designated fire service resources
• Conduct risk assessments and make recommendations (hazards and risks identification with appropriate plans formulated), and carry out incident investigations into fire related incidents
• Ensuring that all mobile and portable firefighting equipment is available and functional and that the emergency headquarters are equipped with inventory.
• Ensure compliance to Fire Services Brigade Act and Occupational Health & Safety regulations and other regulations.
