This position reports to the Mine Maintenance Superintendent.

What you will do:

  • Lead the Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering team for underground and shafts
  • Safety leader in all stages of engineering design and execution with a track record in risk identification and effective mitigation
  • Support the development of the site 5 and 20 year plans aligning to safety and production targets
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to a large technical team prioritizing safety and inclusion
  • Support and collaborate with Operations and Maintenance on the prioritization of engineering as needs arise while being accountable for the adherence to governance policies including OHS Regulations, Mine Regulations, Electrical Code, etc.
  • Champion stakeholder engagement and collaboration on and across sites creating a culture of trust to foster innovation
  • Interface with government agencies ensuring Nutrien’s good standing and compliance to applicable regulations
  • Manage underground engineering standards, drawings, and procedures
  • Actively promote and engage in continuous improvement through changes to existing systems and providing technical support
  • Lead the Process, Safety & Integrity Management (PSIM) program for underground and act as a representative for Allan on the PSIM steering committee

What you will bring:

  • Experience leading and building a high-performance, diverse, multidisciplinary team

  • Experience in supporting complex projects preferably in mining/shafts
  • Proven ability to think strategically using the full complement of inputs both qualitative and quantitative to establish priorities, assess risk, and deliver value
  • Experience in change management and proven record of effective implementation
  • Track record of effecting positive change and managing through influence
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle a large and varied workload with changing and conflicting priorities
  • Creative and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Professional speaking abilities (ie. speaking in public to groups, and via electronic media)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical people in a clear and concise manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive) as well as familiarity with PI Vision, PowerBI, AIMS, FactoryTalk, etc.
  • Relevant Engineering degree from an accredited University
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Saskatchewan
  • Ability to work underground
  • Understanding of Canadian potash mining is an asset
  • Eligible to work in Canada
