Typical Salary Range: $191,110 - $286,665/year
This position is set to work Remote Hybrid at our Bend, OR campus. Remote eligible states include: Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, and Wisconsin. Relocation may be required for this position.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: St. Charles Health System’s Information Technology (IT) Team provides design, development, security, and support to a broad spectrum of computer hardware and software components, all working together for the benefit of departments throughout St. Charles. We partner with our customers to best leverage various technologies to achieve the best patient outcomes possible by implementing new hardware and software solutions, upgrading existing environments, protecting the data we store, and integrating solutions to achieve a seamless experience.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) at St. Charles Health System supports and facilitates an interdisciplinary team approach to the delivery of technology to patient care. In addition, the CNIO supports technology clinical and business functions to achieve consistent growth, strive for patient satisfaction, and direct enhanced innovative technology clinical practices. This role is responsible for the ensuring consistency and quality in the standard of IS practice across all St. Charles technology clinical programs. This position directly manages caregivers.

EDUCATION:

Required: Master’s Degree in Nursing.
Preferred: Doctorate in Nursing.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Minimum ten (10) years of clinical technology practice experience to include five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting. Proven track record of technology clinical excellence and attention to positive technology clinical outcomes. Experience in strategic planning, resource management, and healthcare administration.

SKILLS:

Familiarity with the latest technology clinical advancements, treatments, and technologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with professionals, staff, patients, and external shareholders.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire technology clinical teams.
Proficiency in using healthcare data analytics to drive technology clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.
Familiarity with healthcare information systems and electronic medical record systems (EMRs).
Ability to advocate for the organization’s interests in healthcare policy and regulatory matters.
Understanding of finance, including budgeting and cost control measures.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the technology clinical aspects of the organization, aligning them with St. Charles Health System’s overall goals and mission.

Technology Clinical Oversight:

  • Oversee all technology clinical operations and initiatives as assigned by ensuring the highest standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and best practices.

Technology Clinical Innovation:

  • Identify and implement innovative technology clinical practices, technologies, and evidence-based interventions to enhance patient care and stay ahead of industry trends.

Policy Development:

  • Develop and implement technology clinical policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements while promoting efficient and effective patient care.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and manage a robust quality assurance program, regularly evaluating technology clinical outcomes to identify areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.

Patient Safety and Risk Management:

  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement in all aspects of patient care, including infection control and patient safety protocols. Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate technology clinical and legal risks, including the proactive identification and resolution of technology clinical issues.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay current with healthcare regulations, licensure requirements, and accreditation standards, ensuring the organization’s adherence and coordinating accreditation processes; identify problem areas related to accreditation surveys, compliance issues, and initiate corrective actions. Prepare the organization for regulatory surveys, accreditation audits, and compliance inspections, ensuring successful outcomes.

Technology Clinical Staff Leadership and Development:

  • Hire, lead, and mentor a team of technology clinical leaders, ensuring they have the necessary skills and competencies to provide high-quality care. Develop and implement succession plans for key technology clinical leadership roles within the organization.

Technology Clinical Education:

  • Develop and oversee technology clinical education programs, including ongoing training and professional development opportunities for technology clinical staff.

Budget and Expense Management:

  • Collaborate with St Charles Healthcare Leadership to develop and manage the technology clinical department’s budget, optimizing resource allocation while maintaining financial sustainability; participate in the process of managing key suppliers to ensure cost effective product selection and access.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

  • Promote collaboration and communication between technology clinical departments and other departments within the organization, fostering an integrated approach to technology clinical programs. Collaborate with teams to review processes and identify/implement opportunities for improvements, applying Lean principles, concepts, and tools.

Patient Satisfaction:

  • Monitor and enhance patient satisfaction, collecting feedback and implementing strategies to improve the patient experience.

Executive Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the executive team to provide input and advice on strategic decisions, business development, and growth initiatives.

Managed Care Contract Oversight:

  • Participate in the process of reviewing, approving, monitoring, and managing managed care contract relationships to ensure profitability, market share and timely payment.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize data and analytics to drive decision-making, track key performance indicators, and identify areas for improvement. Provide regular reports and updates to the company’s board of directors on technology clinical performance, outcomes, and relevant industry developments.

Crisis Response:

  • Lead and coordinate the technology clinical response to crises or emergencies affecting patient care.

Ethical and Legal Standards:

  • Uphold the highest ethical and legal standards in all technology clinical operations, promoting a culture of integrity and compliance.

Professional Development:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes through continuous professional development, conferences, and networking, monitoring journals and publications regarding issues and general changes in the industry.
