Description:

Job Summary
The Chief of Staff for State Street Bank International (SSBI) plays a critical role in the daily management of any and all aspects of the Office of the SSBI CEO. The COS, is responsible for all daily support to the organization and its businesses to execute against its strategic and tactical initiatives. The COS acts as the central mesh point for business management across the SSBI, providing management support and is responsible for engaging all relevant functions for daily execution and delivery. The COS is also a conduit of information flow to other functions across the bank.
This role can be performed in a hybrid model (2-3 days on site per week), where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.
Preferred Location: Frankfurt or Munich or other SSBI branch

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintains primary focus on business management, managing priorities, facilitating communication flow and first line of defense
  • Acts as representative / proxy for the CEO of SSBI on necessary regional and global operating committees or other relevant meetings
  • Conducts administration, coordination, content creation and development of key strategic messaging to all partners (e.g. board of directors, board committees, clients, employees, etc.) in partnership with responsible support functions
  • Manages the administration, scheduling, and content coordination / creation for all standard senior executive forums for which the SSBI CEO is the lead
  • Creates, manages and provides appropriate preparation materials for all internal and external speaking engagements and engagements for CEO while traveling
  • Supports ad hoc, strategic and tactical efforts by effectively leading projects across multiple areas: risk, business strategy, transformation, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Manages close partnership with Regulatory and Compliance teams to assist in the creation and preparations for the Regulatory presentations and speaking notes for CEO
  • Builds strong relationships across the Executive Leadership team and their leads to drive an array of eff
  • Work with senior management to actively identify and implement process changes with focus on effective governance structure
  • Works to improve the way horizontal business management requests are handled in SSBI; implements the improved model
  • Key partner in developing a strong risk and control culture across SSBI Close partnership with CEO’s Executive Assistant – Ensures that requested meetings are booked, follow-ups are closed out and ad-hoc items are addressed in a timely manner (in addition to other standard, regular meetings)
  • Maintains and optimizes core management reporting, dashboards ; Establishes quarterly business reviews (QBRs)
  • Assumes management responsibility over Business Risk Management, MIS, Business Strategy process, Strategic Projects, Corporate Secretary and Executive Administration and ensures appropriate level of mentorship and professional development while driving quality deliverables and attention to detail to all of the team’s work products

Additional specific minimum qualifications:

  • Demonstrated skills in problem identification and resolution as well as collaborative problem solving in a complex setting required
  • Possesses excellent communications skills with evidence of successful leadership, influence and administrative / supervisory experience
  • Ability to detect emerging trends and encourage and make recommendations for creative change
  • Results-focused individual with the persistence and patience necessary to work effectively with a variety of internal and external constituents and drive results
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with senior level staff, middle management and support divisions as required to execute the SSBI CEO strategic objectives
  • Possess excellent analytical skills with 5+ years’ experience in analytics and / or reporting
  • Exhibited success at applying analytic methods to take on business problems, interpreting data and communicating analytical results to peers and management
  • Possess the ability to create executive and board level material. Requires synthesizing and summarizing of complicated content.
  • Experienced project manager with the ability to handle multiple priorities and lead team efforts as necessary
  • Proven leader with effective analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral presentations skills
  • Effective at flexing and pivoting – be comfortable dealing with various changes and adapting to them
  • Networking – ability to find data, insights and proof points very quickly across the organization with very little direction and synthesize
  • Influence – be comfortable working with and influencing senior leaders and executives
  • Multi-task – ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, but also be able to focus on the most important deliverables of the moment through proper prioritization
  • Business acumen – ability to pre-empt questions and sense-check the facts and be able to display a general business knowledge across all COO-business lines
  • Ability to self-learn and research topics in order to provide context to matters.

Job Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years of executive management experience
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in roles including strategy, leading global programs, and executing a portfolio of efforts with staff management
Advanced masters degree (e.g., MBA)
