If so, then the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories may be right for you!
As a member of the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority Executive Leadership Team, the COO provides leadership and expertise in the oversight of the strategic and a multi-disciplinary team in the picturesque Fort Smith Region. This team includes physician specialists, emergency room physicians, general practitioners, nurse practitioners, nursing personnel, pharmacists, allied health professionals, translators, administrative staff, and facilities staff.
The Fort Smith Region includes a modern health centre with acute care beds, offices, and clinic examination rooms. It also supports a midwifery program and a hemo-dialysis unit.
Perched on the Slave River, Fort Smith is the southernmost community in the Northwest Territories, hugging the border with Alberta. With its neighbour’s being the Wood Buffalo National Park, home to some of the best whitewater paddling on the Slave River, adventure is just a stone’s throw away. Fort Smith is also home to the world’s largest Dark Sky Preserve, which provides excellent opportunities to view the northern lights.

You will put your exceptional communication skills to work, demonstrate sensitivity and awareness of our political and rich cultural environment for which you will be working, and strive to inspire your team to continuously improve.
This job typically requires a master’s degree in health, public, or business administration, or social sciences (equivalent degrees at the master’s Level will be considered), with a minimum of 7 years senior level management experience; or an undergraduate degree in a related field (nursing, social work, health administration, public administration, business administration, or equivalent), with a minimum of 10 years senior level management experience.
