Established in 1889, UR Medicine Highland Hospital has been the Community Hospital of Choice for Rochesterians for over 135 years. Located in the historic South Wedge neighborhood, and a short walk from Highland Park, Highland Hospital continues to be one of the community’s leading medical institutions. Highland Hospital is a 261 bed, acute care facility best known for its comprehensive women’s services, nationally ranked geriatrics programs, joint replacement program, gastric bypass program and extensive network of primary care physicians.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Master’s Degree in a Clinical Discipline and/or Health Care / Business Administration
  • Experience: 5 – 7 years of leadership position in Hospital Administration
  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, and discretion.

  • Skilled change management leader, with the ability to compromise, negotiate and align different perspectives toward common goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Chief Executive Officer, Associate Medical Director, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Experience Officer, and Chief Human Resources Officer in providing operational leadership for Highland Hospital.
  • Responsible for the daily oversight of hospital operations including the oversight of all patient care services, clinical departments, and ancillary support services.
  • Facilitates the achievement of hospital goals, promoting and fostering a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving and a culture of safety and a commitment to patient and family centered care.
  • In partnership with clinical leaders, oversees clinical programs and services, assuring appropriate resources for the delivery of services and assuring integration of these programs into the hospital and medical center.
  • Establishes organizational standards related to the Hospital’s pillars of excellence in support of the mission, vision, and values. Fosters a culture of excellence and accountability throughout Highland Hospital.
  • Leads the development of the annual management plan and supports hospital initiatives to ensure high quality and safe patient care. Ensures accreditation standards, patient safety goals and regulatory requirements are met.
  • In partnership with the CFO/Director of Finance, oversees the development and administration of all capital and operating budgets.
  • Assures existence of effective management controls. Works with the hospital Director group to establish systematic review and improvement of all programs to ensure services are provided in an efficient, effective, and responsive way in support of the organizational goals.
  • Represents Highland within the health care delivery system, community and other health institutions and agencies as requested by the CEO.
  • Responsible for the reporting out to the CEO on operations at Highland Hospital and reporting on operations to the Board of Directors, as requested.
  • Participates in community, state, and national Healthcare Forums and organizations as requested.
