Description:

Cavalry Ventures is embarking on an exciting phase of growth, and we are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to work as a key member of our leadership team.

The COO will serve as a linchpin in our strategic evolution, orchestrating pivotal functions essential for the fund’s future trajectory. This role demands a seasoned leader with a holistic understanding of venture capital dynamics coupled with a fervent dedication to operational excellence.

  • Collaborate closely with Managing Partners to formulate and execute strategic initiatives, primarily focusing on future fundraisers and the sustained growth of Cavalry Ventures.
  • Drive the structuring and establishment of new funds, in alignment with Cavalry’s overarching investment strategy and growth objectives.
  • Assume stewardship over Cavalry’s most valuable assets: the platform comprising over 300 Limited Partners (LPs) and our burgeoning portfolio of visionary startups.
  • Spearhead the seamless orchestration of Cavalry’s core operational functions, including finance, legal, HR, and other strategic business support areas.
  • Oversee the end-to-end financial ecosystem of Cavalry Ventures, encompassing financial planning, budgeting, accounting, tax compliance, audit, and cash management.
  • Lead the development and implementation of robust financial strategies tailored to support Cavalry’s mission of empowering Europe’s foremost founders.
  • Foster strategic partnerships and manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including external accountants, fund administrators, auditors, and financial institutions.
  • Assume responsibility for risk management, ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance and industry best practices across all operational facets.
  • Uphold stringent anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols, overseeing investor onboarding, ongoing data monitoring, transaction surveillance, and annual audit compliance.
  • Extensive track record in senior financial leadership roles, ideally within the realm of fund management (VC/PE) or leading accounting firms.
  • First experience from and insights into capital raises for Funds, ideally across different investor types and asset classes
  • A profound comprehension of financing structures and instruments prevalent in the venture capital landscape, with a keen awareness of European market dynamics.
  • Thorough familiarity with German regulatory frameworks is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, coupled with a proactive, self-starting demeanor conducive to driving initiatives independently.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset coupled with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and execution.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, adept at stakeholder management, and fluent in both German and English.
  • A penchant for meticulousness, coupled with an innate affinity for numbers and financial intricacies.
