LOCATION: NORTHERN TERRITORY
We are looking for a child and family health nurse to join our team for a 12 week contract
Job Description: As a Child and Family Health Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering holistic healthcare services to families and children, from infancy through adolescence. You will be responsible for conducting health assessments, providing education and support to parents, promoting healthy lifestyles, and collaborating with community resources to ensure the optimal health and development of every child.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Specialised training or certification in pediatric nursing and family health is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including children, parents, and healthcare professionals.
- Compassion, empathy, and a genuine commitment to promoting the health and well-being of families and children.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments for infants, children, and adolescents, identifying any health concerns or developmental issues.
- Provide evidence-based education and guidance to parents on topics such as nutrition, breastfeeding, child development, and positive parenting techniques.
- Administer vaccinations and perform screenings as per recommended guidelines to ensure children are protected against preventable diseases and developmental delays are detected early.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community organisations to facilitate referrals for families requiring specialised care or additional support services.
- Conduct home visits to assess the home environment, offer personalised care and support, and monitor the progress of families in achieving their health goals.
- Participate in community outreach activities, health fairs, and educational workshops to raise awareness about child and family health issues and promote preventive care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and follow-up care, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
