About the Role
We are looking for a Child Development Consultant to join our multi-disciplinary team reporting to the Early Intervention Services Manager on a Part Time basis to work with children birth – 19 years of age. The Child Development Consultant provides support and direct goal-oriented assistance to individual children and their families. This contract is funded by the Ministry for Children and Family Development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree or diploma in a related early childhood development field or related field (e.g., nursing, education, psychology, social work).
  • Training and experience in working with young children and families.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Use of a safe vehicle is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • May be required to transport families.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team in a family centered model of service.

Responsibilities:

  • Practice with culturally safe, trauma-informed, relational, person and family-centered approaches.
  • Establish and maintain respectful relationships with families.
  • Provide families with a choice of culturally safe environments to access services such as; home visits, CDC, community and Haisla facilities.
  • Prioritise your own caseload and wait lists.
  • Implement strategies and appropriate intervention to support individual children with support needs of a developmental delay. Such as parent coaching and sharing up to date resources.
  • Write detailed reports and daily notes in client management systems to record statistical information.
  • Complete about “My Child/About Me” with all families during the intake process.
  • Complete development screening and formal assessment as requested by family.
  • Facilitate groups and community programming as needed.
  • Work with staff and families, understanding the cultural and socio-economic issues in your community.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the stages of early childhood development including typical and atypical growth and development; Indigenous culture and issues, and local early childhood development/support resources and services.
  • Sharing professional development training with other CDC staff.
