Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Fellowship position to train with child psychiatry staff and pediatric & psychiatry mentors to become a clinician and researcher in pediatric behavioral health.

EDUCATION:
Requires Doctoral degree (PhD).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Extensive knowledge of basic sciences, including pure or applied physics and mathematics.
- Requires proficiency with standard Microsoft programs and statistical analysis tools.
- Must be able to make effective and appropriate decisions in research situations.
- Requires thorough knowledge of scientific principles, the ability to solve technical problems, and strong analytical skills commensurate with the collaborative execution of research projects.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with personnel from various specialties.
- Must demonstrate motivation to contribute strongly to the research effort as well as to develop personal skills relevant to independent work in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities:
- Characteristics of normal and abnormal child development
- Comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluation of children and adolescents
- Differential diagnosis of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders
- Bio/psychosocial clinical formulation
- Comprehensive treatment planning
- Evidence-based treatments for child and adolescent psychiatric disorders
- Utilizing child-serving systems that interface with children and adolescents experiencing psychiatric disorders
- Appropriate use of standardized symptom rating scales
- Cultural competence
- Utilization management and quality improvement initiatives
- Clinical documentation using electronic format
- Compliance with regulatory agency requirements
- Appropriate billing for clinical services
- Collaboration with medical professionals
- Standards of care in child and adolescent psychiatry
- Gain knowledge and experience in the following research skills:
- Quantitative and qualitative research design and methodology
- Statistical analysis and interpretation
- Literature search methodology and bias ratings of extant literature
- Gain knowledge and experience in the following teaching skills:
- Teaching evidence-based therapy to clinical social workers
- Teaching child & adolescent psychopathology and evidence-based management to primary care physicians and residents
