Description:

We are looking for a substantive Band 6 Deputy Charge nurse for our Children’s and Young Persons Emergency Department
The post holder will act as a deputy to the Children’s Emergency Department Band 7 Team and be expected to gain substantial senior nurse management experience
The post holder will be required to take charge of a busy Children’s Emergency Department that sees over 40,000 children a year
Membership of the Faculty of Emergency Nursing (FEN) is encouraged, access to FEN continued professional development (CPD) webinars is supported and the opportunity to undertake FEN academically accredited units and qualifications is facilitated.

We are currently recruiting deputy charge nurses/sisters to join our friendly and committed Children’s Emergency Department. For this we require motivated registered children’s nurses, with substantial post registration experience in an emergency care setting. You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, and be ready to develop your leadership and management skills within a supportive, empowering department.
A comprehensive induction is offered to all new staff as well as continuing training and development supported by our DREEAM education team.
NUH is the new home of 24 hours in A&E, as well as being a Major Trauma Centre covering the East Midlands. Our Children’s Emergency Department sees over 40,000 patients per year and works closely with the Adult Emergency Department and the Children’s Hospital. The emergency department is currently undergoing transformation and this will give opportunity to be involved in change management of our processes and working environment.
This requires the post holder to be a strong and motivated leader with a high level of clinical knowledge and experience.
The role involves both clinical and non-clinical time to achieve Trust and National standards of care.
The post holder will need to show a high level of commitment to the ongoing development of the
patient experience, whilst also ensuring the needs of the whole family.
They will also be responsible for ensuring the health and wellbeing of staff in the department and recognise when further support may be needed.
They will need to work flexibly as a member of the departmental team in support to the band 7 team.
They will be expected to manage the department in absence of the departmental ward manager
