Description:
JOB SUMMARY
This position is part of the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) BC’s Community Connections Program at Ospika Properties in Prince George, BC. MCC BC, together with Westwood MB Church and Hyland Properties, are engaging residents and volunteers in healthy relationships to grow strong, safe, and sustainable communities. We want to develop assets-based communities where residents share and participate individually and collectively, taking initiative in building community together. Our passion is to build thriving communities that glorify God.
The Children’s Program Assistant will work with the Community Development Coordinator (CDC) in the planning, organizing, directing, and following up on activities and events that create community for children and families. This role will report to and assist the CDC in initiating activities and in building relationships.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to relate positively and sensitively with culturally diverse residents in varying socio-economic situations
- Ability to work collaboratively with local partners, volunteers, and churches
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Flexible and adaptable to respond to the ever-changing needs of residents
- Ability to demonstrate problem solving using restorative peacemaking skills
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & ACCREDITATIONS
- Experience working with children is strongly preferred
- Experience planning events and activities is strongly preferred

- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector criminal record check clearance upon hire
