The opportunity:
As a Chipseal Operations Supervisor this role will assist the Chipseal Department Manager by delivering work for our customers safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standard. You are responsible for the operational delivery of work within a single functional department within a division. This role is for the Bay of Plenty sealing department. Coordinating all on site-foreman, employees, plant resources and subcontractor teams. You could be involved in large projects in scope and size or multiple smaller projects. This role will also use your skills and experience in the chip sealing operations to provide training and development to the operational staff within the department.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Assist Department Manager with input into the pricing of work and preparation of tenders, quotes, estimates for the chipseal department
  • Be aware of and oversee contractual procedures for managing changes to scope of work for direct work and sub-contractor agreements
  • Ensure reports and programmes are prepared and submitted correctly and in a timely manner
  • Ensure forward planning, organising, and ordering of contract subbies, materials, plant, people required to deliver the work
  • Ensure department staff are provided with leadership, training, and guidance to maximise performance
  • Ensure the delivery of all work to required standards
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers and other key stakeholders
  • Provide technical advice and support to the sealing teams
  • Undertake seal treatment selection and seal designs where required
  • Engage, manage, and supervise internal and external subcontractors required in the delivery of the physical works

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience managing and developing teams
  • Safety focused
  • Current class 1 drivers licence minimum, Class 4/5 Preferred with WTR + DG endorsements
  • Skill in using Microsoft office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Knowledge of seal design process
