JOB SUMMARY

Functions in the support role for the Corporate Controller with direct responsibilities of managing CHM’s Accounting Support Team. Supervises corporate accounting staff and provides leadership and guidance to property accountants. Provides technical support to ensure that corporate and property financial systems operate effectively delivering timely and accurate data. Ensures that financial reporting related to yearly and monthly financial statements, forecasting, budgeting, tax filing, and performance metrics are executed promptly and accurately. Oversees internal controls and internal audits to minimize risk and protect property and corporate assets. Promotes and facilitates current and new financial system training with support office leaders, property leaders, and accounting staff.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience
  • Five years of experience as a Hotel Controller or Hotel Accounting Manager.
  • Strong analytical, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems.
  • Knowledge of overall hotel operations
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, supervise, lead, and motivate personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Corporate Accounting Department.
  • Leads and develops corporate accounting and field accounting associates.
  • Develops and maintains corporate accounting and field accounting procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains the company’s Accounting Standard Operating Guidelines.
  • Ensures proper access to the company-shared network and accounting system for all users.
  • Guides and mentors business unit managers in forecasting and budgeting.
  • Assists properties in the development of comprehensive annual budgets.
  • Monitors and issues company metrics reports and forecasts.
  • Reviews and analyzes daily cash flow reports.
  • Manages the monthly Financial Close of all business units.
  • Assures fixed asset physical control and accounting.
  • Analyzes monthly financial statements for accuracy and reasonableness for all business units.
  • Oversees the maintenance of property-based systems and integration with corporate accounting systems.
  • Leverages technology and effectively uses information systems and tools to generate financial reports and provide managers with analytical support.
  • Maintains strong financial and internal controls and procedures.
  • Coordinates annual external audits for all business units.
  • Manages the completion of Internal Audits for all business units.
  • Manages the completion of accounts payable, payroll recording, and tax filings.Serves as support for Director, Payroll.
