DESCRIPTION

The College of Integrative Studies (CIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) is inviting applications for part-time adjunct instructors with a proven track record of excellent teaching at the tertiary level. These instructors will be responsible for teaching one of the Core Curriculum’s foundational courses for Freshmen, titled “Big Questions”” The course aims to foster critical engagement between various disciplinary perspectives and empirical contexts, exploring some of the key questions and concepts that shape our lives. The course is team-taught, with each Instructor teaching from their own disciplinary perspective to a shared course outline.
“Big Questions” is a mandatory component of the Core Curriculum and is designed for all freshmen. It seeks to introduce students to disciplinary, multidisciplinary, and integrative learning through a pre-assigned course program. Singapore Management University is committed to an interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum, and undergraduate class sizes are limited to 45 students.

QUALIFICATIONS

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply online. The positions are open to scholars in the humanities and social sciences, encompassing fields such as anthropology, geography, history, literature, philosophy, political science, psychology, and sociology. Successful candidates will be appointed under a term-based contract of service (Adjunct) and must hold a doctorate in a relevant discipline by the date of appointment, along with a strong track record in teaching and scholarly research.
