As a Civil Engineer within our Integrated Energy Team, you’ll primarily support the operation and maintenance of civil assets to enable the generation of renewable hydro energy and will also be accountable for ensuring AGL’s compliance with dam safety and the asset management of civil assets including (dam’s, bridges, tunnels, power stations, roads, tramway, aqueducts and penstocks). The AGL Hydro portfolio generates 1024 GWh pa, over 16 hydropower stations, utilising 14 dams.
The role based in Mount Beauty will assist in delivering civil projects, capital expenditure, life extensions, asset performance optimisation, and decommissioning. The role will assist the wider Renewables Engineering Team (i.e. wind, solar, batteries) and will require occasionally travelling to AGL assets across Australia.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborating with industry professionals (e.g. dam safety, ANCOLD and hydropower) and accumulating knowledge by staying up-to date with new technologies and advancements relevant to the field of civil engineering.
  • Enabling project delivery and project management of minor capital works including preparing project baseline documents (scope, cost and schedules).
  • Maintaining project work in alignment with the Project Management Framework and controlling all project work within budget, scope, time, and quality constraints.
  • Recommending improvements to Asset Management Strategies aligned to business requirements and ensuring compliance with AGL Asset Management Standards and Systems are proactively maintained.
  • Ensuring that all Health, Safety and Environment requirements are adhered to while meeting the organisation’s policies and standards for HSE Management.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, and chartered professional engineer or working toward obtaining qualification, as well as experience working on complex civil assets such as dams, tunnels, aqueducts, pipelines, penstocks or power stations.
  • Detail orientated, ability to understand issues and find suitable information from company policies, standards, reports, documents, or archived files.
  • Ability to self-manage delivery of works, coupled with experience working as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • A strong understanding of asset and risk management principals, and ideally experience working on dam safety management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders.
