Position Details: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: $65,100-$95,000, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual’s education and/or experience as it relates to the position.
Location: Flexible location within New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, preference for Fredericton or Amherst area

DUC is seeking to expand its technical capacity and will thus be open to recruiting a civil engineer with knowledge and experience in dam safety, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, municipal works, or geotechnical engineering (with a slight preference to dam safety experience). Salary for this position will be commensurate with each individual’s blend of education and experience, as it relates to the position.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional Engineer Designation in Canada (and eligible in NS, NB, and PEI), or an EIT in progress in at least one Atlantic province.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience (1 year for EIT) in hydrologic, hydraulic, municipal, geotechnical, or dam safety engineering, for EIT or P.Eng., respectively.
  • Ability to conduct field work, including remote dam safety inspections by truck or ATV.
  • Strong planning, reporting and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and supervision skills.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.

Responsibilities:

You will perform a full range of specialized technical services in Atlantic Canada, including but not limited to:

  • Leading provincial dam safety efforts, contributing to dam safety reviews and performing field work, including inspections.
  • Leading the design, contract management, surveying and drafting for wetland conservation infrastructure, including earthworks and water conveyance structures.
  • Contributing to team resource management, long-range planning, and budgeting with the provincial asset management team.
