Description:
This opportunity is a dynamic learning position designed to empower students in cultivating multifaceted skills in manufacturing, engineering and business. At Drop Investments, students are not just observers; they immerse themselves in projects, taking ownership from initiation to completion and collaborating with engineers, technologists, project managers, construction managers, and dedicated colleagues. Working in tandem with engineers and project managers, students will actively contribute to the establishment and refinement of project management, designing, inventory control systems, standard operating procedures, and best practices. The student will learn and assist with engineering related tasks in the manufacturing field, primarily with civil engineering and development. They will be exposed to the full cycle of sales through shipping quality control in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. A key aspect of this program involves direct involvement in a vital inventory project, addressing areas such as shop floor reorganization, optimization, engineering drawings supporting our RFID tool crib layout, and implementing improvements for inventory organization to enhance workflow efficiency and minimize handling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with computerized inventory systems (ERP software)
- Basic understanding of project management principles.
- Ability to read and prepare engineering drawings.
- Basic working knowledge of inventory control and logistics.
- Must have analytical skills to assess material usage, suggest improvements and optimize costs.
- Eligible candidates must be aged 15 to 30 years old on the start date of the contract.
- Must have a valid Social Insurance Number
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Field of study: Preference for students in engineering (especially civil engineering), manufacturing, business, supply chain or a related field.
Responsibilities:
- Use computerized inventory systems to oversee inventory levels as materials, equipment and stock are issued, transferred within an establishment or sold to the public
- Use computerized inventory systems to compile inventory reports, recording the quantity, type and value of materials, equipment and stock on hand
- Prepare requisition orders to replenish materials, equipment and stock
- Support cost optimization for projects and inventory systems
- Maintain stock rotation and dispose of and account for outdated stock
- Enter data for production scheduling, stock replenishment/relocation and inventory adjustments
- Match physical inventories with computer counts
- Learn to prepare engineer drawings to support vessel development
- Learn to manage analyze material usage and suggest improvements to minimize waste
