Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented Civil Engineer - Traffic/Intelligent Transportation System (Hybrid) for employment in the Phoenix, AZ office.
As a Civil Engineer Traffic/ITS (Hybrid) in the ITS/Traffic Department you will assist with a variety of work including traffic safety, traffic signal timing/operations, engineering studies, traffic signal design, lighting design, ITS planning, ITS design, and ITS communications. We regularly perform traffic engineering studies, signal design, and traffic safety engineering studies that include analyses and conceptual designs. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare traffic engineering plans for signal, lighting, ITS and signing/striping designs
- Conduct traffic signal warrant analyses
- Willingness to work on a variety of tasks related to traffic and roadway engineering
- Prepare safety project studies and designs
- Assist in preparing and reviewing technical documents, alternative analysis reports, and other project-specific deliverables
- Collaborate and participate in internal and external team meetings
- Lead interns and other junior level staff in assignments as needed
- Periodic travel is required within Georgia and neighboring states
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in transportation or traffic engineering preferred
- Experience in Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, and Sidra
- Experience in OpenRoads, MicroStation, Civil 3D and/or other CAD software
- Experience in preparing plans, putting together estimate and special provisions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, self-starter with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, commitment to quality, and attention to detail
- Knowledge of various analysis, reporting, and presentation software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
