Alta seeks qualified candidates for a Civil Engineer position to support civil and environmentally focused projects. Our civil work involves stormwater, drinking water, and other municipal infrastructure. Our environmental work includes abandoned mine lands reclamation, restoration, and flood control. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual who works well with a creative and dedicated team. This role offers an exciting mixture of project management, business development, and engineering work. This full time (40 hours/week) benefited position will be based in one of Alta’s Boise, Moscow, or Kellogg, Idaho or Spokane WA offices.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with applicable software such as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil3D, and various modeling software
  • Personable and enjoys interacting with clients and teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and dependable
  • Cooperative attitude and ability to work with diverse teams
  • Experience in construction oversight and contract administration
  • Ability to travel periodically for site visits and meetings.
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred) in Civil or other relevant Engineering Discipline
  • Registration as Professional Engineer in Idaho, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in related discipline
  • Experienced in all project phases from scope development, execution, and closeout.
  • Experience in Project/Task Management
  • Experience in business development or experience working with clients and public entities40-Hour or 24-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training (per 29 CFR 1910.120) with current 8-hour refresher training

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all phases of a project including planning, design, estimating and construction for private, city, county, state, and federal clients.
  • Lead engineering team with planning, pre-design, and design of various types of projects including flood control, stream restoration, wetland mitigation, storm water systems, municipal water and sewers, and CERCLA remediation projects.
  • Oversee or perform technical responsibilities such as drafting, quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, hydraulic modeling, and quality control activities.
  • Delivering high-quality products that are consistently on time and on budget while fulfilling the scope of work.
  • Serving as a key contact with clients, and providing timely communication with management regarding project, client, or other issues
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing staff while embodying Alta’s motto of “be nice and do the right thing.”
