  • Civil Engineering BA an asset
  • 5+ years relevant experience with a civil contractor
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Project
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish
  • PMP an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and guide project teams through all phases of the project life cycle, ensuring comprehensive solutions from Pre-Design to one year warranty reviews for Owners and Clients.
  • Take direct responsibility for project delivery, surpassing established goals in scope, schedule, budget, procurement, quality, and risk management
  • Develop initial and final budgets for construction projects, offering guidance to Project Leaders and part-time staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Oversee and coach staff, providing ongoing mentoring and performance evaluations.
  • Participate in the annual capital budget process, adhering to Divisional guidelines, and interpret architectural and engineering specifications.
  • Aid in design layouts and space accommodation, directing consultants for electrical, mechanical, and structural design services.
  • Ensure proper materials, building products, and installation methods, applying cost estimating methods and market trends for budget estimates.
  • Manage projects with a focus on project phasing, trades division, labor relations, administration practices, and cost control.
  • Coordinate activities with Consultants and Contractors, providing direction on behalf of the Owner.
  • Advise Senior Staff on construction delivery methods and resourcing strategies, analyzing and recommending acceptance of contracts.
  • Liaise with authorities for timely permit approvals to maintain project schedules.
  • Develop and implement communication plans, maintain written reports, and track project progress.
  • Direct and monitor construction schedules, approve progress payments, and coordinate building handover and commissioning.
  • Ensure receipt of CAD-based as-built drawings and coordinate input from operations, maintenance, and asset planning staff.
  • Evaluate performance of consultants, contractors, and team members, addressing design and construction deficiencies.
  • Recognize indicators of material failures, evaluate facility conformance with codes and regulations, and recommend remedial action.
  • Lead the process to develop contracts for the section in collaboration with Legal Services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
