In this fully remote position, the Claims Counsel will be responsible for providing legal support and guidance to Claims personnel while managing a docket of litigated insurance coverage and collections matters. This role will also focus on researching and drafting coverage opinions and position letters with respect to each of our company’s lines of business.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee litigated P&C coverage matters by providing guidance on strategy and assisting Claims personnel with negotiated resolutions;
- Review P&C claims for coverage issues and provide research and guidance to Claims staff;
- Draft coverage position letters and review draft letters from staff adjusters;
- Assist Claims supervisors in triaging new liability losses and monitoring litigation;
- Participate in Claims roundtable discussions/settlement authority meetings;
- Identify areas for adjuster training and growth with regard to coverage issues;
- Help develop the outside coverage counsel panel;
- Assist with document collection and drafting responses to subpoenas;
- Assist with other legal tasks as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities
- J.D. from accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one state;
- At least 5-7 years’ experience evaluating P&C coverage claims and litigation;
- Strong writing and editing skills;
- Experience with General Liability, BOP, Commercial Auto, Workers’ Compensation, and Professional Liability coverage issues preferred;
- Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite and working remotely.

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $140,000-165,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law
