Your Responsibilities

Position responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and direct the work of Insurance and Claims Counsel and other associates assigned to the claims department.
  • Assist in, and help lead, the conceptualization, development, and implementation of departmental initiatives, strategies, and process.
  • Responsible for handling large volume of executive line claims, including:

o Review and analyze executive line claims for coverage
o Advocate on behalf of clients for insurance coverage, including writing responses to coverage positions
o Advise and consult with clients and internal constituents on coverage issues concerning executive line claims

o Advise and consult with clients about the claim process and potential insurance solutions

  • Review executive line policies and specific wording for coverage gaps and potential issues, consult with clients and internal constituents re: same
  • Research current trends in law that pertain to executive line space and our clients
  • Draft whitepapers and other educational presentations concerning executive line space
  • Accumulate required continuing educational credits to maintain current insurance or law license
  • Prepare written correspondence, analyses, reports, and memos as needed
  • Make a positive contribution to customer satisfaction and constantly strive to improve service to the customer
  • Communicates in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive, pleasant work environment
  • Protect the confidentiality of information learned by performing the duties of the position; reinforce the importance of confidentiality of information to all department associates
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Position qualifications

  • Law Degree required. Bachelor’s degree in a business-related program or equivalent education and/or experience required.
  • Licensed in at least one state and eligible for house counsel admission in Colorado.
  • Five plus years of insurance experience supporting clients in claims and coverage issues.
  • Understanding of the overall business, operations, and commercial insurance needs of clients
  • Executive level presence to interface with top management of other businesses, representing Lockton in the highest professional manner
  • Strong presentation skills including preparation and execution
  • Consistent proven ability to organize and manage time in order to meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to interact with clients and associates at all levels of responsibility, building strong internal and external client relationships
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills, including resolving unusual and complex internal and external issues
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to understand, communicate with, find solutions for, deserve respect from, and motivate others
  • Must have the ability to travel by automobile and aircraft and be away from home more than one day and night
  • Legally able to work in the United States
