HEAVY EQUIPEMENT TECHNICIAN

Location: Clarington Compost – Courtice, Ontario
Position Type: Full-time Permanent
Reporting: Equipment Manager
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 4:00pm
Miller Waste Systems Inc. has been in operation since 1961. Miller is a leader in waste management and diversion, providing governments and industries with a wide range of services in the province of Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Manitoba. Miller has over 50 years’ experience in the waste management sector, and currently operates out of more than 30 locations. We are looking for a highly capable Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team, based in Courtice, ON.

Responsibilities:Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Maintaining and repairing site equipment to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Repair and service any and all equipment on site from loaders, excavators, skid steers, screening plants, conveyors, grinders, generators, etc.
  • Maintain all required records and files for equipment maintenance.
  • General shop maintenance and clean up.
  • Assist in improving the Preventative Maintenance program within the compost group.
  • Will be required to conduct services & repairs outdoors.
  • Report to Equipment Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful candidates will be mechanically inclined and possess a strong work ethic
  • 421A License would be an asset.
  • You will have the ability to diagnose and repair electrical and hydraulic faults.
  • Must have own set of tools.
  • Basic computer knowledge as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills are an asset for this position.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced team-oriented environment is key in this position.
  • Must be flexible with your working schedule as you may be required to work weekends and holidays.
