ATLANTIC ROAD CONSTRUCTION & PAVING – CLASS 1 BLASTER

Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in excavation and flatworks, pipeline placement, concrete placement, and asphalt paving. Our team has had tremendous growth in the last year, and we are excited to keep expanding. We are looking to hire experienced Blasters to join our growing team for the upcoming 2024 season. We have lots of exciting projects on the go and coming up soon in the HRM area! Reporting to the Superintendent and Project Management Team, this position is responsible for helping all on-site drilling and blasting requirements, following the company’s directions, policies, procedures, and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have valid Class 1 blasting certification.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Be reliable & punctual, and able to work in a team environment.
  • Very strong attention to detail.
  • Able to demonstrate organizational skills with strong oral and written communication.
  • Possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic for a physically demanding job with the ability to accept a high level of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Read diagrams, layout drill pattern, determine depth and diameter of blast holes to determine the explosives required as per codes, specifications, and recommendations.
  • Assemble primer charges, load explosives, connect electrical wires/detonating cords/fuses to detonate charges.
  • Ensure sufficient deployment and productivity of work crews.
  • Engage in open communication with the Superintendent and Project Managers and report any issues which could affect the project plan.
  • Work as a team member to carry out all site work as required.
  • Plan work in an efficient and effective order, maximizing progress in a safe and timely manner.
  • Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring completion dates are met.
  • Ensure company equipment is operated, maintained, and used effectively.
