Description:

Join the future of sustainable shipping with Norsepower!
Are you ready to embark on a thrilling journey in the heart of maritime innovation? Norsepower, a pioneer in sustainable shipping solutions, is bringing sails back to shipping - and saving the planet at the same time. We are now seeking a dynamic and talented Classification Compliance Specialist to join our team.
Norsepower Rotor Sail harnesses the wind to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce emissions of ships. It is the first commercially available mechanical sail for large vessels. It has a proven track record of successful operation since 2014. Norsepowers project services cover all phases from sales to project delivery and operational support. Each project is planned according to the clients needs and preferences.
In your role, the primary focus will be ensuring that our products fully comply with relevant standards and classifications set by different authorities. You will oversee product and delivery-specific classification, ensuring compliance, especially with explosive environments (Ex) and their requirements (ATEX, IECEx).
You will work closely with both external stakeholders, such as classification societies and various authorities, as well as internal stakeholders, including design, sales, project, and maintenance teams. This involves approving designs and drawings related to certified parts and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, especially in Ex installations. Oversight of the testing of certified equipment on-site is also part of this role. Additionally, you will review and approve service protocols and instructions for certified parts.
You act as a specialist in your own area throughout the organization, enhancing knowledge sharing and providing internal training, particularly focusing on matters related to Ex environments. This newly established role provides an opportunity to actively shape its development. We dont necessarily expect you to be an expert in this area yet but more important is the motivation to learn and become one. The position holds a pivotal role in ensuring our product’s quality, directly impacting the overall success of our business.
Our office is located in Ruoholahti, and we work in a flexible hybrid model. We hope you would be interested in coming to the office 2-3 times a week, fostering a collaborative work environment.

We offer you

  • A possibility to contribute to a more sustainable future
  • A chance to get exposure to the exciting world of international cleantech
  • Continuous learning opportunities, allowing you to grow and develop your skills in a supportive environment
  • A motivated team to join, comprising highly driven professionals from various disciplines, all dedicated to shaping a cleaner future for the shipping industry
  • Flexibility in working conditions, allowing you to enjoy a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle
  • Employee benefits including lunch, telephone, sports & culture, and the possibility to participate in a stock option program

Requirements

  • Previous experience in overseeing technical work to ensure compliance with relevant standards and classifications
  • Preferably a master’s degree in a relevant technical field such as electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Good communication skills to interact with different external and internal stakeholders
  • Project management skills and capability to stay focused in changing circumstances
  • Strong attention to detail and thorough work approach with a quality orientation
  • Full working proficiency in English
  • Willingness to travel (30-50 days per year)

Bonus skills

  • Experience in Ex environments and familiarity with related requirements
  • Proficiency in reviewing and approving designs and drawings related to Ex matters
  • Familiarity with testing procedures
  • Experience working with classification societies in the maritime industry
