Job description
The Cleaning Supervisor will be the operational supervisor of the cleaning workforce responsible for supervising all aspects of the daily cleaning operation and ensuring ‘service excellence’ is delivered in a world class university.
The Supervisor will ensure that all cleaning is delivered safely and in line with both college and departmental standards and that they and their team work collaboratively respecting King’s values and Fit for Kings behaviours.
The supervisor must also be able to provide a hands-on approach when needed to support the team and show a clear understanding of how to deliver the cleaning standards they expect from others.
This role has 1 position available Shift Pattern
Monday to Friday 05:00 till 13:00

Key responsibilities
Induct new and agency staff in line with departmental processes and provide on-site training
Responsible for supporting, training, and developing your team to deliver the highest possible standards following the correct procedures and health and safety guidelines as set out by the department
Support your line manager in implementing all HR policies and procedures and pass information upwards as required
Ensure staff follow all site rules and maintain a smart appearance including the wearing of uniforms, time keeping and following the health and safety policies at all time
To ensure you always setting a great example for the rest of the team in your work ethic, your interactions with staff and all colleagues and building users
To ensure all facilities are always clean and presented to a high standard; if required, that consumables are fully replenished
Liaise with subcontractors when attending site to ensure services are delivered as per the service agreements
Supervise movements of staff in accordance with site requirements, agency members and event plans
Monitor stock levels and report to your line manager when orders are required ensuring a stable level of product is readily available for the team
Ensure that plant, equipment, and PPE is checked and requests for replacements/repairs are made immediately
To carry out cleaning and safety inspections on site, at intervals required by your manager, dealing with non-conformities as a matter of urgency
Ensure that you and your team are adhering to colour coding, COSH, Safety at work
To be aware and comply with safe working practices as laid down under the Health and Safety Acts whilst in your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your workplace and being conversant with all required checks within your area of responsibility and ensure that they are always up to date
Ensure that all cleaning is delivered in accordance with departmental and college safety standards and that all risk assessments/method statements are strictly adhered to
Ensure waste is managed in the agreed way and there is no contamination taking place
Look for ways to enhance the sustainability objectives of the college and make recommendations to the line manager
Carry out daily cleaning audits to review standards achieved by the team and feedback findings to management with rectification plans ready
Undertake and deliver necessary training to your team to fulfil your role
To ensure communication is professional and harmonious, and that there is delivery of world class customer service which meets standards

Skills, knowledge, and experience
Essential criteria
1. Good understanding of what is required to be an effective supervisor
2. Good English language communication skills, including the ability to understand and respond to instructions both written and verbal
3. Good customer service skills with an understanding of customer expectations and how these can be met
4. Experience in a supervisor role
5. Good cleaning experience with both equipment and machinery
6. Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
7. Good teamwork skills
8. Confident in delivering training sessions to the team
9. Good understanding of COSHH and color coding
10. Good understanding of safe working practices
Desirable criteria
1. Qualifications: BICs License, Cleaning related, First Aid
2. Good understanding of auditing and using audit systems to monitor cleaning standards
3. Spanish speaker
4. Strong understanding of different methods of cleaning and how to achieve high standards in different methods
