    Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a key member of our Registration/Admission Clerical team, the Clerical Associate’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: registration/admission, accurately update demographic information, order entry, bookings, create patient charts, filing, bed board, patient transfer, arrange patient transport, criticall, verify and update medical insurance, collect payment for uninsured services and supplies, meet with patients or their family for preferred accommodation. The successful incumbent will have a proven track record for delivering excellent customer service and must be accountable within clinical and non-clinical teams. The Clerical Associate must maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and bending. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors and enhances an exceptional patient experience.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Office Administration Program certificate, required
  • Medical Terminology Certificate, required
  • Minimum two years of current Patient Registration/Admissions experience, and registration in outpatient clinics required
  • Experience with Critical Care Information System required
  • Experience registering births with Sevice Ontario required
  • Experience issuing newborn heatlh cards required
  • Experience with Optum OR management system required
  • Successful completion of secondary school is required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent keyboarding skills (55 wpm) is required
  • Experience with Meditech admissions and order entry is preferred
  • Demonstrated organizational and record keeping skills with a focus on accuracy
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Decision-making ability, good judgment, and the ability to coordinate, prioritize and develop effective workflow methods
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment with competing priorities, while demonstrating excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required.
