Description:
The Audiology department is concerned with assessing and managing the hearing and balance function of patients of all ages in both Primary and Secondary Care. It also supplies several thousand hearing aids to adults and children each year and provides wax removal as part of the Primary Care Audiology service.
We are looking for a motivated clerical officer with good communication and a focus on customer care to work within the administrative team based in the Audiology departments either Neath Port Talbot or Singleton Hospitals. The post is permanent and 25 hours per week.
Clerical officers within the Audiology service are the first point of contact for patients with enquiries either by telephone, email, text or in person. The role will also involve entering referrals and logging appointments in the Audiology patient management system, making appointments for patients, processing stock arrivals and other general administrative duties. The clerical officer will be supported by the team leader and accountable to the office manager.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply

Given that the role includes a significant time spent communicating with patients by telephone or in person excellent communication skills and empathy are required for dealing with patients with D/deafness or hearing loss. Attention to detail is important to ensure accurate patient records and an ability to work as a team with both administrative and clinical colleagues is key to the role.
