MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of six months’ clerical experience in an office or business setting.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Office practices and procedures
English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Standard procedures for alphanumeric filing

SKILL IN:

Interpersonal communication to effectively interact with University personnel and public in person and over the telephone (e.g., to answer routine questions, explain procedures)
Keyboarding (i.e., 35 net words per minute), if required by position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – IF APPLICABLE:

Medical Office and HIPAA knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities:

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Prepares, processes and/or maintains forms relevant to a specialized function/area based on established policies and procedures; may assist in the completion of forms; verifies accuracy and completeness of forms; may obtain missing information and/or verify accuracy of information prior to validating and processing forms.
Responds orally to questions/problems from students, parents, employees and others relative to area of specialization; may access information from a variety of sources; takes appropriate action to resolve problems (e.g., completes forms, directs to another area, etc.).
Maintains a system or subsystem of files regarding area of specialization.
Operates various office equipment (e.g., computer, calculator, copier, etc.).
May print and mail standard response letters (i.e., form letters) to students and others concerning requests for information or processing of forms pertaining to area of specialization; occasionally may alter or modify standard letters.
May answer telephone and greet visitors.
May type brief correspondence, routine forms, envelopes, memos, etc., using a computer.
May train and direct student or temporary employees; may participate in training new employees.
Performs related duties as required.
