HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

You will make a difference by developing and managing partnership and delivery projects as part of the Council’s response to the Climate and Nature Emergency. The Council and our partners are working together to scale up and accelerate new programmes and projects to deliver nature recovery, improve adaption and resilience to the changing climate, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For the initial 2 years, you will be responsible for an exciting new partnership programme focussed on nature recovery across the Lower Severn Vales of South Gloucestershire. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • It is essential that you hold a relevant professional environmental qualification or equivalent and have equivalent relevant professional experience in policy/strategy development, project management and partnership working.
  • We require you to have a thorough understanding and experience of the application of relevant policy and practice in relation to carbon management, renewable energy and climate resilience.
  • You must have the ability to analyse, interpret and communicate complex data and technical information and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • It is important that you have experience of planning and managing multidisciplinary projects and project teams of internal and external stakeholders with the ability to work collaboratively to facilitate and bring about change
  • A requirement is for you to have excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex information to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.
  • It is essential that you are able to organise and facilitate successful meetings and events, be well organised and self-motivated, with ability to cope with competing demands, identifying priorities, and working to targets and deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • In the role you will work with services across the council, partners, sector leading experts, and local communities to manage and deliver work priorities and projects of the councils Climate and Nature Emergency Action Plan and associated programmes.
  • You will be responsibe for project development, management and delivery, and providing operational oversight on behalf of internal and partner Project Boards ,oversee finance,procurement, monitoring and reporting back to funders, as well as acting as the council point of contact for projects and programmes of work.
  • Working closely with partners, you will manage consultants and other contractors who will provide further technical input to inform development and delivery of projects. You will work closely with specialist officers within the council and a wide range of stakeholders including partner organisations, national, regional, and local bodies, environmental non-governmental organisations, consultants, businesses, landowners, Town and Parish Councils and communities.
  • You will be responsible for project implementation, including achieving and tracking project milestones, targets and outputs, project management, finance and budgetary management, evaluation and monitoring, compliance and reporting requirements and ensure that elected Members, officers, partners, and funders are briefed and kept updated on progress..
  • In the role you will be required to keep abreast of national and sub regional policy issues and changes, represent the Council at Officer level and signpost best practice and funding opportunities necessary to achieve the Council’s commitments agreed as part of its declaration of a Climate and Nature Emergency.
  • You can expect to prepare reports for decisions and make presentations to Council, Committee, Officer, and external meetings and to share and present project learning and outputs through local, regional and national networks and forums.
