In order to meet the goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and achieve other targets under the UN SDG17, the financial services industry is going to need to transform how they are doing business. At EY, we define Sustainable Finance as any form of financial service that incentivizes integration of long-term environmental, social and governance criteria into business decisions to provide more equitable, sustainable and inclusive benefit for clients and society; All of our basic FSO consulting services will likely have elements of Sustainability/ESG/Climate in the future, given the pervasive nature of the market and regulatory trends.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are growing! With the topic of ESG and Climate Risk being at the top of the agenda for Boards and Senior Management within financial services, and the scope and pace of growth of the related product and regulatory horizon developing across the region, we are building on our existing strengths to drive further business growth and deliver greater benefit to our clients. We’re looking for an experienced and self-assured ESG / Sustainability professional to join our Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) team who can deliver expert insight into sustainable finance, ESG data, products, regulations and industry practices. The candidate will be leading projects and will be able to deal confidently with clients and regulators and build business opportunities in this exciting area.

Responsibilities:

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Substantive matters of current and emerging regulatory expectations regarding ESG and Climate Risk
  • Strategy setting and implementation of net-zero commitments made by our clients
  • Advice and guidance on structuring client organizational model (people, process and technology) for ESG / climate risk
  • Structure and function of compliance roles and responsibilities and business models
  • Understanding of ESG and Climate aligned technology and data solutions including fintech and regtech innovation
  • Regulatory change management including planning and communication with regulators
  • Climate Risk Management Framework Development
  • Revision or formulation of new policies and controls aligned with regulatory and compliance guidelines and requirements

TO QUALIFY FOR THE ROLE YOU MUST HAVE

  • Strong educational background from a top institution, preferably majoring in sustainability, climate risk, accounting, information systems, data, business or legal related subjects
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in ESG / Sustainability, preferably within the financial services industry, either in a consulting role or in-house.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance and risk management.
  • Experience in working in a project-based, team-oriented environment, with a proven track record of managing teams and delivering in fast-paced and demanding environments
  • Excellent analytical, report-writing, facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong management skills and proven people management skills
