Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

Assembles, installs, repairs, evaluates, maintains, troubleshoots, and inspects diagnostic imaging equipment including, but not limited to laser cameras, diagnostic ultrasound, general radiographic, fluoroscopy, interventional radiographic and special procedure, CT, Gamma Camera, and MRI, to provide for safe and efficient diagnostic procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in electronic technology required.
  • Completion of courses in Radiologic Technology Service including advanced training program in electro-mechanical/electronic principles required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired required.
  • 2 years’ experience in repair and troubleshooting of related diagnostic imaging technology, including but not limited to laser cameras, diagnostic ultrasound, general radiographic, fluoroscopy, interventional radiographic and special procedure, CT, Gamma Camera, and MRI required.
  • CBET - Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician and/or eligibility required.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs malfunctioning diagnostic imaging equipment, using all available resources, including test equipment, service manuals and hand tools. Assists more senior Imaging Specialists on repair and preventive maintenance activities to increase familiarity with imaging modalities. Works with equipment manufacturers and corporate IT as required to complete repairs and associated paperwork in a timely manner.
    Assures proper operation of equipment following repair and or preventive maintenance. Operates and evaluates the performance of equipment in assigned area. Responsible for quality control compliance following equipment repairs.

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

  • Installs, calibrates, and maintains diagnostic imaging equipment in assigned area including, but not limited to laser cameras, diagnostic ultrasound, general radiographic, fluoroscopy, interventional radiographic and special procedure, CT, Gamma Camera, and MRI. Troubleshoots, identifies mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems; performs preventive maintenance and makes repairs or adjustments as needed, assists with installation of software upgrades. When necessary, confers with more senior Imaging Specialists and utilizes vendor’s technical support.

  • Maintains department records, reports, and files as required. Keeps current a technical library consisting of service and troubleshooting manuals. Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and participates in multidisciplinary operations, quality and service improvement teams.

  • Orders and maintains appropriate stock levels for repair parts and supplies for assigned equipment. Participates in incident investigations and reporting related to diagnostic imaging equipment failures. Assists in defining causes and corrective action needed, which may include design additions, improvements, and modifications to electronic equipment.


    • Performs preventive maintenance inspections on diagnostic imaging devices and completes all associated paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. Is knowledgeable of applicable safety and electrical limits for healthcare equipment. Travels between various system sites or provides phone support if required. Reports problems to the CE Manager at the local sites.
