Position: Clinic Clerical Assistant ; Diagnostic Assessment Unit | Oncology
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Act as the primary conduit for patient referral from any referring source
- Accurately book patient appointments
- Collate all personal health information needed for the appointment from internal and external sources in accordance with established protocol
- Follow up with internal/external sources for missing information
- Communicate the appointment details to the patient and/or referring physician as per guidelines
- Initiate patient education regarding the visit to the Diagnostic Assessment Unit
- Monitor wait times for appointments and Manager/Team Leader when timeline standards are not achieved for an individual patient
- Ensure that the status of all patents referred to the Diagnostic Assessment Program is tracked and reported
- Ensure all applicable health reports are incorporated into the patient’s health record
- Ensure that the information required for reporting is complete and accurate
- Ensure a high level of data quality for all clerical duties
- Act as a member of the Multidisciplinary Care Team, participate in planning, implementing and evaluating Diagnostic Assessment Program requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma required
- Minimum 5 years of healthcare work experience in an ambulatory environment required, cancer program experience an asset
- Knowledge of EPIC required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel required
- Typing speed of 60 wpm.
- Experience in data auditing
- Must be extremely detail oriented
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrates a high degree of initiative, self-direction and ability to multitask
- Able to work independently and as part of a team to meet timelines and accomplish goals
- Satisfactory attendance and performance required
- Must be able to work flexible hours
