QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Health Sciences, Administration or related field
  • Regulated health care professional or Dental Assisting Diploma
  • Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate
  • Masters of Public Health is preferred

Experience:

  • 5 years experience in a health care or dental clinical setting or experience with re-processing
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment
  • Experience related to hazardous waste disposal and infection control

Responsibilities:

The Clinic Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing operational activities within the Schulich Dentistry Clinics pertaining to staff, student and faculty activities, infection control, and regulatory compliance. The role will manage the dispensary and the reprocessing clerks. The Clinic Coordinator will report to the Clinical Nurse Manager and supports them with scheduling of all dental assistants who work in Dentistry’s various clinical areas within Schulich Dentistry to ensure compliance and consistency with best practices. The role assumes the role of IPAC Officer and will be the lead with the educating of students, staff and faculty on infection prevention and control, reprocessing of instruments, health and safety, and equipment handling procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements and Clinic policies and procedures. The Clinic Coordinator offers guidance and expertise regarding all Clinic policies and procedures and support a continuous improvement culture. The role provides direction and coordination for the efficient operation of clinic functions to help ensure the University community is served effectively, and the best dental care possible is offered within the Clinic.
