EDUCATION:

  • RPN level nurses who have graduated from an accredited School of Nursing and hold a current registration with the provincial licensing body.
  • Current CPR certification required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Clinic or community experience of 5 years
  • Advanced knowledge in IV and wounds
  • Preferred - IIWCC or K2P Proof of Completion
  • Clear criminal background check (with vulnerable sector screening), negative TB test
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable vehicle

Responsibilities:

  • Provide client/patient care by utilizing the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis,counseling, and health teaching.
  • Provide care according to the established care plan ensuring that, on an ongoing basis, theemotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients/patients are met to the greatest possibleextent; care must be within the scope of practice of a Licensed/Registered Practical Nurse.
  • Perform routine nursing duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and Standardsof Nursing Practice as defined by the provincial licensing body.
  • Perform specialized nursing procedures for which recognized training and current competency canbe demonstrated.
  • Observe and document client conditions and changes following proper standards and inaccordance with professional and Bayshore HealthCare standards.
  • Receive and transcribe physician’s orders in accordance with provincial regulations/standards.
  • Provide direction, support, and delegation to paraprofessional employees (PSWs, HCAs, CHWs,etc.) as appropriate and in accordance with provincial regulations/standards.
  • Understand and implement infection prevention and control practices.
  • Seek out and participates in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities tomaintain full scope of practice and competence.
  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices, provincial regulatory requirements, and scope ofpractice for a R/LPN.
  • Identifies when the client care needs exceed the competency of the nurse and escalatesaccordingly.
  • Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with thecompany’s Quality Management System.
  • Maintains privacy and confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same onlywith appropriate Bayshore personnel.
  • Complete other tasks as requested.
