Description:
OVERVIEW:
The Clinic Receptionist performs duties directly involved with all aspects of the secretarial duties needed to maintain medical records. The Clinic Receptionist handles all incoming telephone calls, directing calls to the appropriate department or person and takes messages when needed. The Clinic Receptionist assists the Patient in checking in for their appointment and for checking the Patient out after the appointment, including charge posting and follow-up appointment scheduling.
The Clinic Receptionist reports directly to the Clinics Operations Director
1. EDUCATION:
a.) High School graduate or equivalent or preferred.
b.) Graduate of a medical coding course preferred.
3. WORK EXPERIENCE:
a.) Experience in medical office work and capable of using office equipment preferred
Responsibilities:
- Updates patient information, collects co-pays, provides any necessary forms needing completion, obtains signature as necessary. Maintains medical records.
- Handles telephone calls in an efficient, friendly manner, taking clear and understandable messages when needed. Deals with customer needs expeditiously.
- Greets Patients and directs them to the appropriate area.
- Schedules appointments and revises schedules for patients as necessary. Assists in scheduling patients for follow-up appointments in other departments and clinics.
- Daily preparation of Patient chart for appointments, with all necessary paperwork attached.
- Posts charges from the routing slip into the computer system, upon check out, including procedure codes and diagnosis codes.
- Cleans/sterilizes equipment and/or instruments and work areas following safety, cleanliness and infection control procedures.
- Monitors inventories supplies and places orders for supplies through clinic supervisor.
- Assists in cleaning emergency spills and clinic office as observed or requested.
- Transports trash and soiled linen to designated area for disposal.
- Other duties as assigned.
