Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, sterilisation, dispensing and labelling of media according to documented procedures.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under ‘your key responsibilities’, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide assistance to scientific and technical staff within the laboratory.
  • Demonstrated ability to work conscientiously and accurately with minimal local supervision.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow written instructions, including laboratory manuals and basic maintenance procedures on laboratory equipment.
  • A commitment to the maintenance of high professional standards and a demonstrated commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, procedure, policies and regulations which impact on the position, in particular the Queensland Health Code of Conduct, and a knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
While not mandatory, a relevant qualification would be well regarded, e.g. appropriate TAFE qualification such as Certificate in Laboratory Techniques, or equivalent.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements

  • It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: SARS COV2, Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
