Description:
To code all primary and secondary diagnoses, procedures and all operations for patients admitted to the Trust to current targets andinput these codes using the computer systems available. To abstract the clinical information from the patient case notes or/and computerised health record and then analyse that information toprovide the codes, with adherence to the rules, regulations and conventions of clinical coding. This includes where the information issometimes very complex and difficult to interpret. Coach, mentor and support the training of less experienced coders.
Continue professional education and undertake personal professional development in order to refresh clinical coding skills. Keep up todate on changes to code assignment, coding methodology and local policy amendments to ensure coding reflects the activity of theTrust Please see attached Job description and Person Specification.
